The Truckee Fishout
by
October 2009
Well what a great weekend we had on the gorgeous Truckee River. I think
to say we were a little concerned on Friday night whether or not there
would even be a fishout is an understatement. The wind gusts were up to
40 miles an hour and it rained most of the night. When we woke up at
around 6 AM it looked like it was clearing and our prayers had once
again been answered!
We met at 9 AM and the morning started
with a seminar put on by Bill Carnuzzo, Guide Extrodinaire in the
parking lot. He then led us down to the river and gave us
demonstrations on tight line nymphing. Then we were allturned loose to
try our new founded method of nymphing. We slowly scattered along the
river fishing about a mile of it over the day and we caught and
released some 20 or so fish during the day. The evening ended up at
Rich Slades summer home in Tahoe Donner for a bar b que. We had our
president, Dave Peterson cooking up hamburgers, hot dogs and brats to
perfection! Watch out Les Junge!!!
We would also like to
acknowledge a couple of brand new members to the club and thus to our
new member 'sub-club'. *First is Dylan Coppola who lives in San Mateo
with his wife Stacy and 3 1/2 year old son. Dylan drove up by himself
so he could turn around and head
back the same day to spend time
with his family on Sunday. *Then we just received the application of a
good friend of the fly fishing community John Till. John is one of the
few Master Casting Instructors in the country and I can say from
personal experience he is totally into helping others learn and enjoy
the fine art of fly fishing. John has asked to be a part of our new
member commission so he can share his abilities with others.
