Two-handed Spey Clinic - Walk & Wade on Yuba River
April 11 & 12, 2026
We are offering a two day Spey Clinic led by guides Brian Clemens and Joe Garza to help you accomplish this.
Day One:
• Focusing on light 5-6wt spey rods, but all rods are welcome.
• Review Spey casting techniques (Snap T, Double Spey, etc.)
• Line setups and gear selection for spey
• Presentation techniques for swinging flies effectively
• Reading water and identifying ideal swing water
Day Two:
• Put what you learned to the test.
• Have fun doing it!

Fishout Details
Registration:
Registration for ALL members begins January 16th 2026 @ 12pm.
Cost:
$300 per angler (gratuity not included)
• Included is 2-day Spey Clinic on the water
• Maximum anglers for this fishout is 10
Experience Required:
Beginner to Intermediate for this outing

Gear Recommendations:
• Two-handed Trout Spey and Spey rods welcome - 3wt to 8wt.
• Appropriate lines, sink tips, etc.
• Appropriate flies
• Waders, wading boots, and wading staff
• Net
If you don't have a Spey rod, Brian and his team can provide Spey rod(s) and reel(s). If you're interested you will need to contact the guide(s) directly (any additional costs are not part of the clinic). All responsibility is on you if something happens to the equipment.
Note from our guide Brian Clemens:
If you have a spey rod but it's not lined or you feel it's not lined correctly, please bring it with you and we will dial it in together. From 3wt trout Speys to full 14ft 8wt Spey rods, I have all the lines required to get your rod to load up properly with each casting/swinging technique and your casting style.
Don't forget:
• California Fishing License and Steelhead Report Card.
• Please pack for cold days and possibility of rain
• Layering, hat, polarized sunglasses, sunscreen, and rain jacket.
• Remember to stay hydrated throughout the day.

• Saturday and Sunday - Bring your own lunch
